La Cubanita (2020) is a small compilation of some of my favourite songs from Latin America. During the last five years living in Graz, Austria, I have rediscovered my connection to the old Bolero songs from my home country Cuba. This is a homage to my island. Nevertheless I felt the need to record some pieces from other Latin American countries like Mexico, Argentina and Brazil, because they are so musically significant for me. PASTIS (2017)
Pastis is not only a spirit made from anise and other herbs, it is also a bar in Graz where Xafer members enjoy sipping a drink or two. Xafer, just like Pastis, can also be enjoyed like a bundle of mixed herbs. The piece the CD is named after, contains an aroma from the combination of elements from Musette and Balkan Brass with Rock. Xafer creates an original sound by combining and deconstructing genres, embossing them with catchy melodies and pulsating grooves. Xafer switches on the mental cinema, bringing up images of caravans cruising over rolling hills, dancing caterpillars or circus bears balancing on tightropes. These images trigger feelings, that some would describe in colors of earthy auburn, and others as a lucent deep blue… Buy it here!
